I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for a great program. I have used Quo Vadis on several trips to the USA and found it to be an excellent product, it works very well with my old Garmin 12XL. My wife and I will be visiting the Southern States in September and will again be using Quo Vadis.

Thanks
John Wilson

I just upgraded to 3.0. Excellent product!!! I appreciate the new GPS calibration, map rotation features and the compass. I also like the slight delay of the present position indicator instead of tracking the center of the map. It gives greater forward "visibility". Thank you very much!!!

As per your response, I upgraded to QV 3.0. I just wanted to let you know how
delighted I am. This is more than an upgrade it is a whole new program with
the same interface as 2.0 so that there was very little to learn. You have
solved all the shortcomings in 2.0 (except it doesn't talk which is OK because
it would probably sound like my wife). The 360 rotation with the arrow showing
the direction I am going is great. All I can say is 'Thank You'.

Your map data is more updated than what comes with the updated City
Navigator 4.01 and Garmin StreetPilot III. I got the SP3 and it doesnt show
SR-54 in Pasco County, FL (Westley Chapel). I know because I am buying a
house there, so that obscure little road interests me. Thought you'd like
to know that wherever you are getting the map data, seems pretty up-to-date.

Happy so far with GPS Companion!, April 21, 2002
Reviewer: olafva from Norfolk, Virginia USA
Pros: EXTREMELY ACCURATE! BEST GPS BUY FOR THE PRICE especially with Magellan's ... rebate!
Cons: (Minor): Altitude variation, non-standard battery insertion, 10 hour battery life (use rechargables)
BOTTOM LINE: If you have a Handspring Visor, this is the best "bang for the buck", especially with Magellan's ...rebate ...
Bought your visor GPS Companion ... Quickly read simple GPS use instructions and almost immediately had it running and pulling in 7 satellite readings in 3D mode. Entering approximate longitude & latitude seems to reduce satellitte acquision to a minute or two (May also help to orient in North direction?).
I walked along a 80 foot waterside bulkhead noting the latitude reading change from 36° 53.416' to 36° 53.427' . It showed I walked 2mph at 20T (20° E of True North). I turned around and walked back to the starting point which again read 36° 53.416' at 200T (180° turnaround), all while holding 7 satellites. I changed the course walking around the yard and found the starting point and ending point consistently reading the same values. Thus, I can stand at any point on the bulkhead and the GPS will tell me my location within 10 feet. I repeated the above day and night with the same results. Next evening we consistently got 9 satellites with an accuracy of 6.6 feet (2 meters). Even though I'm a research scientist, this accuracy is utterly amazing to me. However, elevation is another matter! I held the GPS about 5 feet above the bulkhead which is 4 feet above the water for a total of 9 feet. The GPS elevation read from 3.3 feet to 19.8 feet so taking the mean of 11 feet I guess is not too bad, but it's strange to see the water 9 feet below and see a reading 10 feet higher? However, the GPS satellites above are designed to accurately determine latitude and longitude and not altitude. Transferring the excellent GPS Map Companion maps for family locations was easy. We enjoyed experimenting with basic mapping, showing the GPS X prominently on the map and easily zooming to our street via the Handspring Up/Down buttons. Next (always last) I hope to read a User's manual to see if I can save GPS locations and calculate distances between them. At the Opera last night, it couldn't obtain any satellites; perhaps since there was a heavy thunder/lightning rainstorm. Our original batteries are long passed the expected 10 hours (still 3/4 charge), perhaps because we've removed the GPS when exploring the excellent Marcosoft MAPPING software (We'll try rechargables next). So far, we're extremely satisfied with our GPS Companion, and still have many things to explore...

I was ready to return my Rand McNally GPS receiver for my Palm IIIxe for a refund until I found your product. While using Rand McNally Streetfinder Deluxe(R) I was constantly struggling with the large maps and slow map transitions. Thanks to Quo Vadis, I have found that using the GPS and getting the information you want doesn't have to be frustrating. Thanks again and looking forward to future products!

Thanks a million for you help. This program really makes all the other palm (and CE) map programs look terrible.

Even though I found a good mapping solution for the PC, the Palm solution left me searching for something else. And I found it in QuoVadis from MarcoSoft (no, not Microsoft, MARCOsoft). This is one cool piece of mapping software designed specifically for your Palm. The best thing that can be said about QuoVadis is that it works as advertised. Read the on-line user manual, read the customer comments, and believe them because they are accurate in my opinion.
This is the best, coolest, most awesome mapping program for the Palm. I should know, I tried them all -- Street Pilot, Atlas, Solus Pro, MicroMap -- QuoVadis kicks booty.

A few weeks ago I registered and downloaded Quo Vadis. Fantastic!! The most useful tool if you often travel in the States. The performances of the program are significantly increased by the GPS. During my last trip I visited three towns in four days: Dayton, Philadelphia and Atlanta: for the first time I didn't have any problem in locating my destinations. I found very useful being constantly informed on the direction to get to the selected destination. I hope that MarcoSoft will make available maps for Europe.

FANTASTIC PROGRAM! The best mapping program on the market for my Palm III. I'm a police officer and I use my Palm III "on the job" for scheduling, note taking, reference, etc. I'm a patrol supervisor in a 53 man department and I'm setting up my Palm III so it can be used by the average street cop. I'm using your Quo Vadis program instead of a printed "road index". It's much easier to locate a local street on a map with your program than using the printed index - very important when responding to emergency calls. I've lived in the town where I work for more than 40 years and still do not know all of the streets by memory . There are new streets added every year. I consider Quo Vadis as the most important program in my Palm III.

I have used the others but this is the best, hands down and no questions asked. I used it in Dallas Texas, Seattle Washington and here in California. It is great. I can't say enough good things about this program and the best feature is NO HIDDEN COSTS (per map charges).

Hi! I just bought the Earthmate from Delorme mostly because you made Quo Vadis able to work with it. It is fantastic. One of the coolest things I have seen. The tracking is excellent. This is definitely the best map program for the Palm Pilot. Thanks for adding support for the Earthmate and for providing Palm owners with an excellent mapping program.

David Simmons <DSIMMONS@WFUBMC.EDU>

I've used Quo Vadis several times on business and pleasure trips when trying to find particularly well-hidden places. Once while navigating Boston's twisted cow path streets, we couldn't find our hotel, despite getting instructions from the hotel clerk. But Quo Vadis showed us exactly where to go, and got us to our destination.

All my best,

Steven Fogarty <SFOGARTY@DOTONE.COM>

Excellent, an UPDATE to software that actually provides the features I needed. I bought a EarthMate specifically to be able to use your program, DeLorme no longer sells the TripMate (I'd guess you knew that!) And the wait was worth it, it works great now! I received the DeLorme Solus program when I bought the TripMate. But, I still like your program. The streets names moving along with the panning is a very unique feature in your software. NICELY DONE!

Thanks for the update.

Jim Donovan <JMDONOVAN@MEDIAONE.NET>

From what I've seen, this beats the pants off of PalmMap (now StreetSigns). I bought PalmMap and was frustrated with (1) its large memory needs; and, (2) the inability to link contiguous maps. Looks like you fixed my main complaints! Worth a try, easily!

Dale Rosenthal <DALE_ROSENTHAL@HOTMAIL.COM>

Bought it, installed it, love it!! Thank you - finally, a mapping program for the Pilot that I will actually use. I found that using Quo Vadis in conjunction with Solus Pro is a great combination. The features complement each other well; Solus for turn-by-turn routing and minutia, and Quo Vadis for ultimate street level guidance at your destination.

With the release of Quo Vadis 1.03 it truly is the killer app. Now that I can store the maps in the flash RAM (thank you TRG) keeping 500k of maps isn't as painful as it used to be. When someone starts to give me directions I don't reach for a map I reach for my Palm III. Once I know the nearest cross street I fire up Quo Vadis hit Find and search for intersection. Then it's just a matter of back tracking to a location I already know how to get to. The biggest kick is seeing the looks on people's faces when you pull out your Palm III cut through the darkness with the back light and show them EXACTLY how to get there. Together with my TripMate GPS it's hard to get lost.

Andrew Morton <AMORTON@PROPOINT.COM>

Just downloaded it. It seems to draw a bit faster at large scales (good!). This past week, I hooked up my Garmin 45 (classic, not XL) and got my wife to take us for a drive. Tracking was very good, I could even see the accuracy improvement, once the Garmin was tracking 4 sats. Very nice job.

Best program of its kind I've ever seen. A technical tour de force, especially considering the small code size. Amazing performance, a "must have" for your palm pilot.

Mike White <MIKE.WHITE@EROLS.COM>

I just tried this program out on a business trip in State College and it worked flawlessly! It even helped me find a nearby Mall to kill some time before my flight back home.

Pete Gerken <PGERKEN@ATL.LMCO.COM>

......and the clear winner is.............QUO VADIS!

The incredible zooming freedom of Quo Vadis makes this the clear winner.

The seamless transition to neighboring maps also makes it the winner.

The only edge of the solus is that the user can make his own maps, which include things like lakes, etc, and also he can drop cookie crumbs along the way to create roads and trails which are not on the map!

John Minarcik <MINARCIK@GATE.NET>

A great product -- wipes the floor with all the other mapping systems I have tried!

Carlos Kruytbosch <CARLOSEK@YAHOO.COM>

I was growing bored with the Pilot until I discovered this. A really amazing product. A great selection of available maps is icing on the cake.

Mike Israel

This is the first app that I have seen that will do it all. Street names that you can actually read and understand where they belong.

Patrik Ahlin <PAHLIN@RUSHORDER.COM>

I cannot say it any other way, this program is FANTASTIC. I use several other mapping programs with my GPS receiver this one's unique street labeling makes it the best so far. NICE JOB!!!

Bill Melody, ATE Engineer <BMELODY@DIABLORESEARCH.COM>

Thank you for one of the most breathtaking demos I've ever seen for the PalmPilot. I'm really surprised because recently I returned DeLorme's "TopoUSA" because I was unhappy with the PalmPilot module, and described something very similar to Quo Vadis as what I was looking for, right down to the directional indicator. A fascinating application. Thank you!

John W. Nowak <JOHN_W_NOWAK@ATT.NET>

The user interface on this mapping app is the best there is, and of course the UI is critical on any map. I've evaluated user interfaces for years and this one really stands out. Gray scale and scrolling street names really make a huge difference.

David Watson <STANDFAST-NOSPAM@MINDSPRING.COM>

I've been watching and dismissing Pilot-based map programs for as long as I've had a Pilot, and Quo Vadis is unbelievable. Great job!

Pierre Paour, Senior Java Engineer <PIERRE@ZEROG.COM>

I like it! From your demo it is the best map software I have used. I tried HandMap and PalmMap and this was the easiest and gave the smoothest transition between zooming in and zooming out.

Steven H.

I've been looking at your new Quo Vadis software and downloaded the demo. Fascinating stuff. Are you guys planning to make available USGS terrain maps for use with Quo Vadis? Integrated with Streetmaps ie. Delorme Street Atlas?

<anonymous>

Great stuff!! I tried the demo and it is terrific!! I am ready to order! I am in the New York City Metro area; I live in Westchester County and work in Nassau County. I would like those maps as well as Suffolk, NY and Fairfield, CT.

Regards

Just upgrading my purchased Quo Vadis! It's awesome! :)

Please put me on you mailing list and send me a note when a European (German) Edition is available - I will purchase it!
