Definitions
The following alphabetically sorted definitions and acronyms apply throughout this manual:

GPS A Global Positioning System which uses satellites to calculate one’s precise position on the earth’s surface. Abundant information on GPS can be found by searching the Internet or from the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center.
Map or Map Module A single Quo Vadis map file.
NMEA The world-wide standard protocol for GPS messages. Developed and maintainted by the National Marine Electronics Association.
PDA A device running the Palm™ Operating System.
Zodiac Binary Format A non-standard GPS message format developed by Rockwell International.
